Yu ping feng san - a traditional formula for immune support
The primary action of Yu Ping Feng San aka Jade Windscreen is to tonify the body's defensive energy, known as Wei Qi, which is responsible for protecting the body from external pathogens. Astragalus root is the main herb in this formula, and it is known for its ability to strengthen the immune system by enhancing the production of white blood cells and increasing the activity of natural killer cells. Siler root is added to the formula to help regulate the body's immune response and prevent overreaction to external pathogens. Atractylodes rhizome is added to tonify the Spleen Qi and promote digestive function, which supports the production of Wei Qi.
The combination of these herbs enhances the body's immune response, improves resistance to pathogens, and supports overall health and vitality. Jade Windscreen is often used preventatively during the change of seasons or during times of increased susceptibility to illness.
